Our program
We must build capacity and protect our Public Health Care System (Longer term actions)
• Fund a plan to ensure every Albertan has access to a family physician• Invest in prevention to keep Albertan’s out of acute care• Mental health is health care and should be funded as such• De-centralize decision making and invest any new money for more front line resources• Collaborate with Dr’s, Nurses, Paramedics and other allied health workers to improve working conditions and retain staff○ Mental health supports○ address burnout and mental strain root causes• Develop a comprehensive harm reduction strategy to augment addiction recovery and suicide prevention• Create a rural/Indigenous Pre-Med program
Near term actions
• Double the seats for all allied health professional training in Alberta• Increase residency spaces for both foreign trained and Canadian trained Drs• Improve financial incentives for:○ Family medicine doctors and medical practitioners○ Rural doctors and medical practitioners• Create more efficient certification pathways for foreign trained health careworkers• Allow Nurse Practitioners and others to be realizing their full scopes ofpractice in a team environment by reforming billing rules• Address EMS staffing issues to resolve response times
